Community Guidelines

Last updated July 28, 2026

Spins works because the feedback is honest and the people giving it are real. These guidelines exist to keep it that way. They apply to everything on the platform — tracks, reviews, comments, profiles, and messages.

Breaking them can cost you your review privileges, your Coin balance, or your account. The binding version of these rules lives in our Terms of Use; this page explains what they mean in practice.

Reviews

A review is the product here. Treat it like one.

Do:

  • Be specific. "The vocal disappears under the snare in the second verse" is a review. "Fire 🔥" is not.
  • Say what's working as well as what isn't.
  • Be honest about your rating, even when the artist is in your feed.
  • Stay on the track. You're reviewing the music, not the person who made it.

Don't:

  • Submit low-effort reviews to farm Coins or Credits. Reviews that are too short, generic, off-topic, or copy-pasted get rejected, and repeat offenders lose review privileges.
  • Use AI to generate reviews. You're being paid for your ears.
  • Downrate someone to move yourself up a chart, or trade positive reviews with another user.
  • Make it personal. Criticise the mix, not the musician.

Language and tone

Spins does not allow profanity in reviews, comments, track titles, or profile text. Being blunt about a mix is welcome; swearing at someone is not.

We also don't allow:

  • Hate speech or slurs targeting anyone's race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation
  • Harassment, threats, intimidation, or coordinated pile-ons
  • Sexual content involving minors, in any form, ever — this is reported to the authorities, not just removed
  • Doxxing or sharing someone's private information
  • Content that promotes self-harm or violence

There is no warning ladder for hate speech, threats, or content involving minors. Those accounts are removed.

What you upload

  • Upload only music you made or have the rights to. That includes samples, vocals, stems, and artwork.
  • Uncleared samples are your responsibility, not ours. We use automated fingerprinting to detect copyrighted material, and matches get removed.
  • Don't upload someone else's track to farm engagement, and don't re-upload a track that was removed.
  • If you believe your copyright has been infringed, the notice process is in our Terms of Use.

Coins and Credits

The economy only works if nobody games it. Don't:

  • Create multiple accounts — to review your own tracks, farm Credits, or evade a suspension
  • Use bots, scripts, or automation to like, comment, or review
  • Bulk-like or spam comments to accumulate Credits without actually engaging
  • Exploit a bug to generate Coins or Credits. If you find one, tell us at support@spins.dev — we'd rather thank you.

Coins and Credits obtained this way are reversed, and payouts already issued can be recovered.

Reporting

Every track, review, comment, and profile has a report option. Use it — we read every report, and reporting in good faith never counts against you.

For anything urgent, or if you think someone is in danger, email support@spins.dev directly.

How we enforce this

Most violations get a warning and a removal first. Depending on what happened and whether it's a pattern, we may:

  • Remove the content
  • Reject a review and reverse the Coins paid for it
  • Suspend review or upload privileges
  • Suspend or permanently remove the account
  • Forfeit Coin and Credit balances obtained through fraud or abuse

Hate speech, threats, and content involving minors skip straight to removal.

If you think we got it wrong, reply to the enforcement email and a person will look at it again.

Changes

We'll update these guidelines as the community grows and we learn what actually needs saying. Material changes are announced in the app.
